Kaiut Yoga Crested Butte offers a unique, therapeutic approach to yoga that helps restore natural movement patterns often compromised by age, injury, trauma, or lifestyle habits. Developed by naturopath Francisco Kaiut, this joint-centered method diverges from traditional yoga by focusing less on muscle stretching and flexibility and more on optimizing joint health and body mechanics.
The Kaiut method targets the effects of aging, injuries, and even sedentary lifestyles, making it ideal for anyone, regardless of age, physical ability, or experience level. This practice can benefit those dealing with chronic pain, limited mobility, or conditions that hinder movement, while athletes and physically active individuals can also find relief from wear and tear caused by high-impact activities. By reducing inflammation, improving circulation, and fostering overall joint function, the method supports physical and mental well-being through an inclusive, adaptable approach. Alex’s Yoga Studies

After surviving a life-changing head-on collision that caused a traumatic brain injury, spinal fractures, and broken wrists, Alex Lambro’s recovery became a testament to the body’s remarkable ability to heal through consistent, mindful practice. The Kaiut Method played a transformative role in her journey, helping her overcome pain and move forward from trauma by working with the body’s natural restrictions. This experience inspired Alex to dedicate herself to sharing this practice with others as a means to foster healing and well-being.
A Colorado native deeply connected to her community, Alex has always been an avid sports enthusiast. As a retired competitive snowboarder and long-time figure skating and youth soccer coach, her diverse athletic background has enriched her understanding of movement and body mechanics. With over 35 years of yoga practice, Alex’s transition from the Iyengar method to the functional Kaiut Method reflects an intentional shift in her approach, allowing her to adapt yoga to better meet her needs.
Alex has started the online yoga school to make the Kaiut Method more accessible to those who could benefit from its therapeutic approach, regardless of location. Inspired by her own healing journey, she hopes to reach others in need by offering a practice that fosters recovery, growth, and well-being. Combining her extensive athletic background and ongoing studies with Francisco Kaiut, Alex is committed to helping people navigate their paths to healing through this transformative method.
At Kaiut Yoga, our mission is to foster physical and emotional resilience through a practice designed to support the nervous system, joint health, mobility, and overall well-being. We embrace this method as a powerful tool for healing, self-discovery, and lifelong vitality, sharing its inclusive and therapeutic benefits with individuals of all abilities. Through mindful movement, we strive to enhance longevity, relieve pain, release tension, and improve quality of life for everyone, no matter their physical abilities or life circumstances.

Francisco Kaiut is the creator of the Kaiut Yoga method. His approach is based on working with restrictions and the body’s natural limitations to promote long-term mobility and well-being. Francisco’s method is designed to offer therapeutic benefits for all types of bodies, regardless of age, condition, or flexibility, and it is particularly helpful for addressing chronic pain, injuries, and stress. His deep understanding of anatomy and physiology underpins the method, making it an accessible and effective practice for people recovering from injury or anyone seeking to improve their overall quality of life. His teachings resonate especially with those who have experienced trauma or injury and those seeking a slower, more mindful practice that promotes healing from the inside out.

Practicing Kaiut Yoga 2-3 times a week can enhance your results within about three weeks, depending on the complexity of your injury or condition. Many practitioners notice an improvement in their range of motion, and along with that, a growing sense of confidence. It’s not uncommon for students to share how they feel like they’re ‘getting their life back’ as they rediscover enjoyment in everyday movement and activities.
Please let Alex know if you’re post-surgery so she can adapt every class to meet your specific needs. When practiced correctly, many people find that Kaiut Yoga can actually help facilitate the healing process during recovery. However, I always recommend consulting with your doctor before beginning any movement therapy to ensure it’s safe for your particular situation.
